How it works
Alcohol inhibits kidney excretion of uric acid and beer specifically contains high levels of purines (guanosine). Both mechanisms raise serum uric acid significantly.
Beer has the strongest association with gout attacks. Wine appears to have a smaller effect. Complete abstinence during acute attacks is strongly recommended.
Multiple large epidemiological studies confirm strong dose-response relationship between alcohol consumption and gout risk. Beer confers the highest risk.

“Some improvement but not as dramatic as I hoped. Might need longer to see full benefit. Still continuing.”
