How it works
Oxidative stress - an imbalance between free radicals and antioxidant defences - is implicated in the destruction of melanocytes in vitiligo. Antioxidant supplementation may protect remaining melanocytes and support the conditions needed for repigmentation.
Evidence is mostly from small studies and combination treatments making it difficult to isolate the effect of antioxidants alone. Best considered as a supportive adjunct to primary treatment rather than standalone therapy.
