How it works
Empty stomach increases nausea β the acid environment and gastric contractions worsen symptoms. Small bland meals stabilise blood sugar and reduce gastric irritation without overwhelming digestion.
Avoid fatty, spicy or strongly scented foods which commonly worsen nausea. Cold or room-temperature foods are often better tolerated than hot foods.
Consistent clinical recommendation for all types of nausea. The BRAT diet (banana, rice, applesauce, toast) has long been recommended for gastric upset.
