for Psoriasis
A synthetic vitamin D3 derivative applied topically to psoriatic plaques, normalising skin cell growth and reducing inflammation without steroid side effects.
How it works
Calcipotriol binds to vitamin D receptors in keratinocytes, inhibiting their proliferation and promoting differentiation, reducing the rapid cell turnover characteristic of psoriasis.
What to watch for
Can cause skin irritation, especially on the face. Weekly application should not exceed dose limits (max ~100g/week) to avoid hypercalcaemia risk. Often combined with steroids for improved efficacy.
