How it works

Calcium provides the mineral substrate for bone matrix. Vitamin D ensures calcium absorption and bone remodelling. Deficiency impairs periosteal and cortical bone healing response.

Most relevant for female athletes (low energy availability, amenorrhoea) who are at high risk of bone stress injuries. Assess for the Female Athlete Triad/RED-S if relevant. 1000–1300mg calcium + 1000 IU vitamin D daily.
