How it works
Colchicine disrupts microtubule formation in neutrophils, inhibiting their migration to the joint and blocking the inflammatory cascade triggered by urate crystal deposition.
Most effective when started within 12 hours. GI side effects (diarrhoea, nausea) are common — low-dose regimens are preferred. Interactions with CYP3A4 inhibitors.
