Cold Shower

for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention

A daily cold shower of at least 30-90 seconds, ideally finishing an existing warm shower with cold water. Most studies use water at or below 15 degrees Celsius. Consistency over weeks and months produces the most meaningful results.

How it works

Cold water exposure activates the sympathetic nervous system and triggers an acute stress response that over time may train immune regulation. Regular cold exposure has been associated with changes in circulating immune markers and reduced upper respiratory tract infection duration.

What to watch for

Avoid cold showers if you have cardiovascular disease, arrhythmia or hypertension without medical clearance. Start with 15-30 seconds and build gradually. Not recommended during acute illness or fever.
