for Psoriasis
Regular brief sun exposure (10–20 minutes daily) to affected areas, or medically supervised phototherapy (UVB).
How it works
UV radiation slows the rapid skin cell proliferation characteristic of psoriasis and suppresses local immune activation. UVB at 311nm is the most therapeutic wavelength.
What to watch for
Avoid sunburn which can trigger a Koebner response (new psoriasis at sites of skin injury). Fair-skinned individuals need shorter exposure times. Medical phototherapy is more precise and safer than uncontrolled sun exposure.
