for Repetitive Strain Injury
Corticosteroid injections provide short-term pain relief in tendinopathy but are now understood to have no long-term benefit and may increase re-rupture risk — their use is now more selective.
How it works
Reduces peritendinous inflammation acutely, providing short-term pain relief. However, corticosteroids can weaken tendon collagen structure, increasing rupture risk with repeated injections.
What to watch for
Most appropriate when RSI has a specific injectable diagnosis (tenosynovitis, trigger finger). Requires doctor administration. Must be combined with ergonomic modification to prevent recurrence.
