for Gastritis
A processed form of licorice root with the blood-pressure-raising glycyrrhizin removed, used as a chewable supplement to soothe the oesophageal and gastric mucosa.
How it works
DGL stimulates mucus secretion from gastric epithelial cells, increasing the protective mucus layer that shields the oesophagus and stomach from acid damage. May also reduce H. pylori adhesion.
What to watch for
Use DGL form only - whole licorice root can cause high blood pressure. Limited clinical trial evidence.
