How it works
Gravity-assisted venous and lymphatic drainage reduces interstitial fluid accumulation in the injured area. Most effective in the first 24–72 hours when inflammatory oedema is greatest.
The limb should be above heart level to be effective — a foot resting on a chair is insufficient for ankle sprains. Elevate while resting. Most important in the first 48 hours.
Getting started
This is a lifestyle-based approach. Start gradually and consult a health professional if you have any concerns about suitability for your situation.
