How it works

Exercise increases the activity of lipoprotein lipase, an enzyme that breaks down triglycerides. It also raises HDL cholesterol and may improve LDL particle size.

Exercise alone produces modest LDL reductions. Most effective when combined with dietary changes. Consult a doctor before starting intense exercise.

Why strong evidence

Meta-analyses show aerobic exercise reduces LDL by 3–6mg/dL and raises HDL by 2–3mg/dL. Combined aerobic and resistance training shows the best results.

β€œSome improvement but not as dramatic as I hoped. Might need longer to see full benefit. Still continuing.”
