Green Tea

for High Cholesterol

Regular consumption of green tea or standardised green tea catechin supplements (particularly EGCG) to lower LDL cholesterol.

How it works

EGCG and other catechins inhibit intestinal cholesterol absorption and reduce LDL oxidation. Regular intake consistently lowers total and LDL cholesterol in trials.

What to watch for

High-dose EGCG supplements may cause liver toxicity (rare). Contains caffeine — may affect sleep or BP in sensitive individuals. 3–5 cups daily for dietary effect.
