Heat and Cold Therapy

for Facial Pain

Applying heat to the jaw muscles or cold over an acutely inflamed TMJ provides simple, accessible pain relief for facial pain.

How it works

Heat relaxes masseter and temporalis muscle spasm, reducing the primary driver of TMD pain. Cold reduces joint inflammation and oedema in acute TMJ arthritis or injury.

What to watch for

Heat (warm pack, towel) is more appropriate for chronic muscular jaw pain. Cold is more appropriate for acute joint inflammation or post-procedure. Use over the jaw and temple area, not the eye.
