Anticholinergic agent that relaxes smooth muscle in the gut wall, reducing spasm and pain without affecting normal bowel motility at therapeutic doses.
What to watch for
Available OTC in most countries. Not for people with glaucoma, enlarged prostate, or bowel obstruction. Minimal systemic absorption — few systemic side effects.
