How it works

Iron is essential for DNA synthesis in hair follicle cells. Low ferritin is strongly associated with telogen effluvium (diffuse hair shedding). Correcting deficiency can restore normal hair cycling.

Only effective if iron deficiency is confirmed by blood test. Do not supplement without testing β€” excess iron is harmful. Best absorbed with vitamin C and away from calcium.

Why strong evidence

Strong evidence linking iron deficiency to hair loss, particularly in women. Correcting low ferritin reliably improves hair shedding in those who are deficient.

β€œSome improvement but not as dramatic as I hoped. Might need longer to see full benefit. Still continuing.”
