How it works

Magnesium regulates calcium influx at muscle fibres, controlling contraction-relaxation cycling. Deficiency leads to excessive calcium entry, increasing muscle tension and post-exercise soreness.

Most beneficial in deficient individuals. Glycinate or malate forms are better absorbed and tolerated. High doses cause loose stools. Evidence for muscle pain in athletes with marginal deficiency is reasonable.
