for Rosacea
Topical metronidazole (0.75% or 1%) applied once or twice daily — one of the most studied and prescribed treatments for inflammatory rosacea papules and pustules.
How it works
Metronidazole has anti-inflammatory, antiparasitic (targeting Demodex mites), and mild antimicrobial properties. Its primary benefit in rosacea appears to be anti-inflammatory.
What to watch for
May cause mild irritation. Full benefit takes up to 3 months. Less effective for flushing and background redness than for papules and pustules.
