How it works
Progressive movement sequences mobilise the median nerve through its full excursion in the carpal tunnel, reducing inflammatory adhesions that restrict nerve movement and increase intraneural pressure.
Should be taught by a physiotherapist or occupational therapist. Nerve gliding should not provoke significant pain — gentle, progressive mobilisation is the goal. Most effective in mild to moderate CTS.
Finding a practitioner
Seek a qualified and registered practitioner. In Australia, check AHPRA (ahpra.gov.au) for registered health practitioners including physiotherapists, psychologists, and Chinese medicine practitioners.
