for Bursitis
Oral NSAIDs are commonly used for bursitis to reduce bursal inflammation and pain, facilitating activity modification and rehabilitation.
How it works
COX inhibition reduces prostaglandin-driven bursal inflammation, decreasing fluid production and pain sensitisation. Reduces the inflammatory cascade within the bursa.
What to watch for
Use for shortest effective period. Not appropriate for long-term management or if there is any suspicion of infected (septic) bursitis. Topical NSAIDs may be preferred for superficial bursae (olecranon, prepatellar).
