How it works
Papaya leaves contain papain, chymopapain and various alkaloids with hepatoprotective properties. Studies suggest they may reduce liver enzyme levels and support platelet production in hepatitis-related jaundice.
Pregnant women should avoid papaya leaf as it may cause uterine contractions. Consult a doctor before use in children or with medication. Fresh leaf juice is bitter — often taken with honey.
Several small studies show papaya leaf extract reduces liver enzymes and improves platelet counts in dengue-related and hepatitis jaundice. Traditional use is extensive across tropical Asia.

“Some improvement but not as dramatic as I hoped. Might need longer to see full benefit. Still continuing.”
