for Sinusitis
Quercetin is a plant-based flavonoid with antihistamine and anti-inflammatory properties. Used as a natural alternative for allergy-driven sinusitis symptoms. Often combined with bromelain to enhance absorption. Evidence is preliminary but it is widely used and considered low risk.
How it works
Quercetin inhibits mast cell degranulation, reducing histamine release and the allergic inflammatory cascade that drives sinonasal congestion. It also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that may reduce mucosal oedema.
What to watch for
Evidence is mostly in vitro and animal studies — limited human clinical trial data. May interact with certain medications including antibiotics and blood thinners. Choose a quercetin with enhanced bioavailability (e.g. quercetin phytosome or combined with bromelain). Consult a pharmacist if on other medications.
