How it works
Thiamine is essential for nerve conduction and muscle energy metabolism. B12 deficiency can cause neuropathic changes that contribute to abnormal muscle firing and cramps.
Most relevant in populations at risk of deficiency: vegans, elderly, those on metformin (reduces B12 absorption), or those with alcohol use disorder. Supplementation in deficient individuals is effective; evidence in non-deficient people is weaker.
