How it works
Zinc is essential for intestinal epithelial repair, immune function and the regulation of water and electrolyte transport in the gut. Diarrhoea depletes zinc stores rapidly.
WHO recommends zinc supplementation for all children with diarrhoea in developing countries. Evidence in adults is less robust. Do not exceed recommended doses — excess zinc can cause nausea.
WHO and UNICEF recommend zinc alongside ORS for childhood diarrhoea. Meta-analyses show zinc reduces diarrhoea duration by 25% and severity significantly.

“Some improvement but not as dramatic as I hoped. Might need longer to see full benefit. Still continuing.”
