Burnout is a state of chronic stress that leads to physical and emotional exhaustion, cynicism, and a sense of ineffectiveness — most commonly from work or caregiving demands. Unlike ordinary tiredness, burnout does not resolve with a short break. Recovery requires sustained reduction of stressors and rebuilding of personal resources.

Emotional exhaustion — feeling drained and unable to give
Cynicism, detachment, or depersonalisation toward work or others
