How it works

Addresses deconditioning, fear-avoidance behaviour, and central sensitisation that perpetuate chronic back pain. Restores normal movement patterns and reduces the threat value of pain through progressive loading.

Supervised by physiotherapist initially. Key principle: unlike acute pain, chronic back pain does not mean tissue damage is ongoing — activity is safe and therapeutic. Avoid complete rest.

Finding a practitioner

Seek a qualified and registered practitioner. In Australia, check AHPRA (ahpra.gov.au) for registered health practitioners including physiotherapists, psychologists, and Chinese medicine practitioners.
