How it works

CBT addresses the psychological and behavioural factors that perpetuate chronic migraine, including pain catastrophising, avoidance behaviours, and hypervigilance to symptoms. Reduces stress reactivity that lowers the migraine threshold.

Most effective for chronic migraine with significant psychological comorbidities. Requires access to a trained psychologist or therapist. Often most effective as part of a multidisciplinary approach alongside medical treatment.

Finding a practitioner

Seek a qualified and registered practitioner. In Australia, check AHPRA (ahpra.gov.au) for registered health practitioners including physiotherapists, psychologists, and Chinese medicine practitioners.

Noticeably less frequent issues after about a month of consistent use. Worth sticking with.

Good results overall. Had to adjust the approach slightly but found what worked for me. Would recommend trying it.

Some improvement but not as dramatic as I hoped. Might need longer to see full benefit. Still continuing.
