How it works

Breaks the panic cycle: physical sensation → catastrophic interpretation → fear → more sensation. Interoceptive exposure desensitises the feared physical sensations by deliberately inducing them in a safe context.

Gold-standard treatment. Interoceptive exposure exercises (spinning, breathing through a straw) can feel distressing — a trained therapist makes the process safe and structured.
