Dilute Bleach Baths

for Eczema

Bathing twice weekly in very dilute sodium hypochlorite solution reduces skin bacteria and significantly improves eczema severity.

How it works

Reduces colonisation by Staphylococcus aureus, which triggers and worsens eczema inflammation. Has anti-inflammatory properties independent of its antibacterial action.

What to watch for

Use only dilute solution — approximately 2ml of 5% household bleach per litre of bathwater (half a teaspoon per full bath). Rinse thoroughly and moisturise immediately after.
