for Tinnitus
Standardised ginkgo biloba leaf extract used as a supplement for tinnitus, based on proposed circulation and neuroprotective properties.
How it works
Proposed mechanisms include improved microcirculation in the cochlea, free radical scavenging, and modulation of platelet-activating factor — though none are proven to reduce tinnitus in trials.
What to watch for
Multiple well-conducted trials have failed to show benefit over placebo. May increase bleeding risk with anticoagulants. Not recommended in current ENT/audiology guidelines.
