for Anxiety
An amino acid found in tea that promotes a calm, alert state without sedation. Widely used as a mild anxiolytic with a strong safety profile.
How it works
Promotes alpha brain wave activity (associated with relaxed alertness) and modulates GABA and glutamate neurotransmission. Does not cause drowsiness at standard doses.
What to watch for
Generally very safe. May potentiate sedative medications. Most research uses 200mg doses. The caffeine-and-L-theanine combination is more studied than L-theanine alone.
