How it works
Allows gastric emptying to progress before assuming a supine position, reducing the quantity of acid available for reflux when the protective effect of gravity is lost.
Combine with head-of-bed elevation for maximum effect on nocturnal reflux. Even a 2-hour gap is substantially better than eating immediately before sleep.
Observational and interventional studies support meal timing as a meaningful modifier of nocturnal reflux symptoms.
