How it works
Lidocaine penetrates the skin to block voltage-gated sodium channels in peripheral cutaneous C-fibres and Aδ-fibres, reducing ectopic discharge that produces neuropathic pain symptoms.
What to watch for
Licensed for postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) in Australia. Apply to the most painful skin area — up to 3 patches for 12 hours. Minimal systemic absorption makes it safe for most patients including the elderly.
