Magnesium Malate

for Fibromyalgia

Magnesium malate — combining magnesium with malic acid — has been specifically studied for fibromyalgia based on evidence linking magnesium deficiency and mitochondrial dysfunction to this condition.

How it works

Malic acid is a Krebs cycle intermediate that may improve mitochondrial ATP production, addressing the energy metabolism dysfunction hypothesised in fibromyalgia. Magnesium reduces NMDA-mediated central sensitisation.

What to watch for

Evidence is limited — one positive pilot trial and preliminary research. Not a replacement for aerobic exercise or medical management. Well tolerated. Use 300–600mg elemental magnesium as malate form.
