How it works

Reduces pain catastrophising and the default mode network activity that amplifies chronic pain perception. Increases pain acceptance and reduces suffering beyond the sensory pain itself.

The 8-week MBSR course is time-intensive. Shorter programmes show smaller effects. Most effective when combined with exercise and CBT as part of multidisciplinary management.
