How it works

Strengthens the prefrontal regulation of attention and impulse control through repeated practice of directing and redirecting attention. Increases metacognitive awareness of thought patterns.

Standard mindfulness programmes may be difficult for people with ADHD — ADHD-adapted programmes with shorter, more varied practices are better tolerated. Works well as an adjunct to medication.

Seek a qualified and registered practitioner. In Australia, check AHPRA (ahpra.gov.au) for registered health practitioners including physiotherapists, psychologists, and Chinese medicine practitioners.
