Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

for Depression

MBCT combines mindfulness meditation with cognitive therapy techniques to help people with recurrent depression recognise early warning signs and break the rumination cycle before a full episode develops.

How it works

Trains metacognitive awareness — the ability to observe thoughts without identifying with them. Reduces ruminative processing and increases acceptance of difficult emotions.

What to watch for

Primarily recommended for people with 3 or more previous depressive episodes. Requires 8-week commitment to group programme and daily home practice.
