How it works
Large meals increase intragastric pressure, forcing acid through the LOS. Smaller meals reduce this pressure and the total acid load in the stomach.
Last meal should be at least 3 hours before lying down. Avoid lying down or vigorous exercise immediately after eating.
Physiologically well-supported and incorporated into standard lifestyle advice for GERD. Direct RCT evidence is limited but mechanistic evidence is strong.
