Topical Diclofenac (NSAID Gel)

for Knee Pain

Topical diclofenac gel applied to the knee provides local anti-inflammatory pain relief with significantly fewer systemic side effects than oral NSAIDs.

How it works

Diclofenac penetrates skin and soft tissue to achieve local COX inhibition, reducing prostaglandin-driven pain and inflammation. Systemic absorption is approximately 6% of oral dose.

What to watch for

Most effective for superficial joint pain. Available OTC (Voltaren Osteo Gel) in Australia. Should not be applied to broken skin. Less effective than oral NSAIDs for deep joint pain.
