for UTI
A herbal supplement from Arctostaphylos uva-ursi leaves containing arbutin, which is converted in the urinary tract to the antimicrobial compound hydroquinone.
How it works
Arbutin is hydrolysed in the kidney to hydroquinone, which exerts antimicrobial activity against E. coli and other gram-negative bacteria responsible for most UTIs.
What to watch for
Do not use for more than 1 week or more than 5 times per year due to hydroquinone toxicity risk. Do not use in pregnancy, kidney disease, or children. Should not replace antibiotics in pyelonephritis.
