How it works

Acts as a reducing agent for histamine, accelerating its breakdown. Also inhibits prostaglandin synthesis and has mast cell stabilising properties at high doses.

Doses above 1g may cause loose stools. Take divided doses with meals. High-dose vitamin C increases urinary oxalate — relevant if prone to kidney stones.

Why limited evidence

Limited RCT evidence for seasonal allergic rhinitis specifically. A study showed high-dose vitamin C reduced serum histamine levels. Community use is widespread but formal evidence is thin.

Noticeably less frequent issues after about a month of consistent use. Worth sticking with.

Good results overall. Had to adjust the approach slightly but found what worked for me. Would recommend trying it.

Some improvement but not as dramatic as I hoped. Might need longer to see full benefit. Still continuing.
